"There are some printing problems with the Electronic Reserves software. If patrons report that they are unable to print from electronic reserves let them know that we are aware of the problem and working on it. In the interim they can try printing the file as an image or get a print copy of the item at the reserve counter".

"Just as a note of interest, the library currently has 245 public machines set up throughout the library. When the latest batch of computers get set-up in the classrooms under construction we will have 305" - DH minutes

Joan mentioned that until the OSAP-paid student help is established in the Media Room, Reference Desk staff should feel confortable asking someone at the Circulation Desk to provide assistance to those who need it using the microfilm machines, etc.

Main Desk

Monday to Thursday : 10:00 AM till 2:00 AM
Friday : 10:00 AM till 10:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday: 12:00 PM till 10:00 PM

West Lab
Monday to Thursday : 12:00 PM till 2:00 AM
Friday : 12:00 PM till 11:00 PM

If you are working the desk when a student consultant is scheduled and they do not show up please leave Allan message on his voice mail.

Faculty from Lambton College from beautiful Sarnia, Ontario (Bluewaterland) now have external borrowing rights at Leddy.

I created a page that explains an important concept to keep in mind when using WilsonWeb.

The concept is think of a WilsonWeb search box as a set within brackets.

I know that doesn't make much sense. That's why I made this page with illustrations.

I did some photocopies of reserve material for Shannon (a visually impaired student). The readings (with an attached note) will be kept at the reference desk until she picks them up later this week. Any questions ask Leila or Nicole.

There's an assignment afloat that requires the need of an atlas of Russia. So please resist lending out any Reference Atlases at the moment.

Leddy's group study rooms are currently not available as new locks are being made for them. They should be ready next month?

Katharine brought to my attention the University of Windsor's Pre-Med Club has placed two MCAT-related items in the library on course reserve: MCAT Generalities and Princeton Review MCAT Diagnostic.

Hi everyone. Just a reminder -- we have a binder for library assignments at the main reference desk (in the quick ref shelving unit). As you discover library assignments, please add them to the binder with any helpful hints on particularly difficult questions, so that the staff who come to the desk after you won't have to start from scratch when the next student from that class asks for help. And don't forget to check it when you are stumped, it just might prove useful.

Ok - I think all of the OVID nursing links have been fixed now. However, if you do find one that isn't working, please let me know.

From an email from Leila:

As a result of having students at the third desk when we leave we are making a few changes in how we close the Reference Desk.

The phone on the desk furthest from the third desk is call forwarded and removed to the desk drawer. The machines are powered down. Only the two filing cabinets (smaller ones) have the statistics sheets and are locked. You leave the key in the larger filing cabinet, as well as the other phone for the students use. The students will call forward that phone when they are finished and lock the large filing cabinet. They will then bring the key to the circulation desk.

From an email from Leila:
There is a problem with the patron load in RACER (hopefully to be resolved soon).
If patron is trying to logon to RACER and is unable they will need to be redirected to the Interlibrary Loan staff. ILL staff will manually add their records to the file.

CINHL (and all the other OVID Nursing databases) are still acting up. One can still access the database (by hitting the login button and then the continue button) but it will be nice when these confusing pages disappear again.

The scanner has moved. It's now at LEDDY07.

Incidently, Art has updated the computer booking page.

Now that we have IT help at the Reference, do we still keep under headings Computer and Printer? Should we change our statistics sheet to reflect referals to our new IT help? Just some rhetorical questions...

We've had a couple students ask about Library tours today as evidently, there was a notice in the Head Start packages that there would be tours today. Library tours will be next week: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday on the hour.
