Over the next number of weeks you may will see SFX buttons reading Get It! (or perhaps, Find It!) in our databases. SFX is software recently acquired by OCUL that "allows users to seamlessly link between electronic resources". We'll be doing more intro stuff about SFX later.

This page tells you where SFX has been activated at Windsor.

WilsonWeb's AdvancedSearch page (which is default) is currently non-functional but their Basic Search page seems ok enough. I suspect the problem comes from a weekend server upgrade thing so I haven't called anyone about it. However, if the problem continues we should let them know.

It appears that RACER has a new look and it seems much improved (no more "Bibsearch"). I'll update our RACER webpage eventally to reflect its newness.

Just so you know, there are some floppy disks reading "Get a Head Start at the Leddy Library" in one of the drawers at the Reference Desk. These are leftover promotional disks so feel free to give them away to needy students.

Hope this is useful to anyone looking for SPSS. Thanks Jennifer.
SPSS is an acronym for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, a program for doing statistical analyses on the sort of data that arises in social science research.
To get to this program, use one of the student workstations:

start>
math & stats>
SPSS 11 for windows>
more files > ok
my documents window>
type: c:\program files\spss

Hey - sometime during the summer, the Leddy Library acquired Safari Tech Books Online. Safari is produced by publishers O'Reilly and Pearson Technology and is a searchable collection of - for us - 91 IT and computer books. It also allows users to search code fragments if need be.

WilsonWeb was acting up but now it seems to be working again. If it continues to act up, try using this link:

Students logging into Scholar's computers in the library currently only have access in 30 minute intervals. Joe told me that is just a temporary condition and once our systems librarians return from their well-deserved vacations, more normal time allotments will be returned.

Just a notice of some link housekeeping today. Orignally Leddy Library accessed the CancerLit database via our OVID database service. CancerLit through OVID has ceased and now our access is now routed through PubMed.
