Well, for the first time in my five years here, I received a request for a journal on MICROCARD. Eek!
FYI: 1) there is no microcard reader at Leddy 2) the scanner in Joan's office is not powerful enough to scan readable copy from microcard 3) there are currently no microfilm readers on sale on ebay. 4) there may be no point buying a microcard reader because evidently no one sells the light bulbs for them anymore! 5) Wait. These guys still sell these readers

From today's Daily News:
"Comment on IT Strategic Plan due tomorrowTomorrow is the deadline for comment on the University of Windsor's draft Information Technologies Strategic Plan, available at www.uwindsor.ca/itsp.~This extensively-revised plan was produced following campus-wide consultations, beginning in the early this year. Comments received on this current plan will be considered prior to the final plan being submitted to senior management for approval. Please submit all comments to: itsp@uwindsor.ca before November 24."
Its worth reading because the Leddy Library is mentioned somewhat frequently. I learned a lot. These are some things I learned, for example (page 21)

There may be a weirdness in the print que today. Pat found that the print jobs from the bank of scholars workstations beside the newspaper reading area don't always have the same name as the computers. We've only had one student bring this to our attention.

The 2003-4 Leddy Department Annual Reports are available on ERES under the ULAC folder.

Just so that you are aware, our systems folks are aware of the recent hanging white windows that now occur with some frequency when one clicks on a link from the GetIt windsow. Art is going to talk with the folks in ITS to see if its a firewall issue.

Just to let you know that America : History and Life and Historical Abstracts no longer tags every item that you search. This will make exporting records to RefWorks much easier.
